Problems with Quake 4 and Sound Blaster X-Fi settings

Summary:

  • The game Quake 4 could not save Sound Blaster X-Fi audio settings. To resolve, download and install the latest Sound Blaster X-Fi drivers
  1. If you have not already done so, download the latest drivers for your X-Fi card.
  2. Browse into C:\Program Files\Creative\Sound Blaster X-Fi\Programs, and run SETUP.EXE. You can also run the SETUP.EXE in the \Audio\Drivers folder in the Sound Blaster installation CD-ROM.
  3. Under Update Option check the Driver uninstallation box.
  4. Check the Delete all shared Creative audio driver files box.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Yes to the warning that follows.
  7. Click OK to proceed with the uninstallation.
  8. When prompted, click OK to reboot your system.
  9. When your system has rebooted, click Cancel when Windows detects new hardware.
  10. Reinstall the X-Fi latest driver update.
  11. Reboot PC when prompted.
  12. Launch Quake 4, and apply Sound Blaster X-Fi settings in the game's audio settings.
